Welcome to Dogs of Distinction

Courses

Before registering for a course , please review the following course information to ensure all participants get the most out of the courses:

Please register early: registration is only complete when the waiver has been signed and tuition has been paid.  Classes are kept small to ensure each participant gets enough instruction and practice time in class. Classes that do not get the minimum number of registrants will be cancelled within the week prior to the scheduled start date and full fee returned to registrants.

If participants prefer to pay by a method other than Paypal, please contact Dogs of Distinction at 604-989-3647 and other arrangements can be made.

Please ensure you can attend all scheduled classes before registering for a course. Make-up classes are provided only under the following conditions: if a participating dog is unable to attend scheduled classes after registration and due to illness or injury of that dog, credit wil be given toward a future course with Dogs of Distinction.

Please read the material sent to registrants prior to class and please follow the instructions in the registration package. Please also have the recomended equipment (6 ft leach and flat collar or well-fitting humane harness) prior to first class. Please note that we do not permit choke, prong, pinch or electric collars or “flexi”, extendable or mechanical leashes on dogs participating in any course and ask that participants do not use these items at home.

Participants must attend 5 out of the 6 classes including the final graduation class, and demonstrate they and their dogs have understood and learned the skills taught in class in order to complete the course and obtain the certificate of completion. Dogs are animals and have independent spirit.  Training results will vary from person to person and dog to dog, and are dependant on, among other factors, the dog’s history, breed, temperament and the amount of exercise, meaningful activity, management and training the dog receives on a daily basis from the handler.

There are no classes nor private training classes on long weekends and no group classes on Sundays.

Posted group classes are not suitable for dogs with aggression or reactivity issues with other dogs or people. and dogs found to have these issues will be transferred to private or reactivity-specific training classes.

Thank you,  Jane
